RSI was founded in 1990 by Ron Smith to provide field representative and marketing services to manufacturers of commercial and recreational marine products. RSI specializes in wheel house electronics, electrical, and DC power products.

RSI maintains excellent relations with most every marine electronic company, marine electrical company, marine supply house, shipyard and yacht builder on the US. / Canadian west coast, and in Alaska.

Prior to 1990, Ron Smith was the sales Manager of Seattle Based Northwest Instrument, serving the electronics needs of the Northwest and Alaska commercial fleets. He began his marine career by commercially fishing in Alaska. After fishing, before joining Northwest Instrument in 1977, Ron spent a few years with the Windward Mark, a marine supply company that specialized in sailboat hardware. Ron is an accomplished sailor who has restored and sailed the Northwest in his own classic sloop "Freebooter" since 1979.

Across this time, Ron Smith became highly experienced with all product categories of marine electronics and applications across vessel types. He earned a stellar reputation among end users and dealers alike for his thorough product knowledge and technical competence.

Ron has also become a widely respected battery and battery charging expert, providing DC power consulting and products to both marine and non-marine users.
